Make a Difference
Malawi currently has approximately 40 dental surgeons to serve a population in excess of 18 million people. The majority of these dentists are in private practice in urban areas and only accessible to those living in cities and who can afford the fees. As a result, the majority of Malawians have no access to a dentist.
The new Bachelor of Dental Surgery course at the College of Medicine represents an important step in developing the workforce. However, studying on the five year programme is financially challenging for young Malawians.
By donating to MalDent Student Aid you are providing vital support that will help to develop the dental workforce by training a cadre of young, home-trained dentists who will be able to implement the Oral Health Policy currently in preparation by the Ministry of Health.
Thank you for helping us in our journey to achieving ‘Oral Health for All’ in Malawi
